South Dakota RV Rentals

South Dakota RV Rentals from GetRV.com can be an exciting and fun filled way to travel in comfort and style while visiting this state. South Dakota’s past is full of adventure stories featuring Plains Indians, explorers, and pioneers. Here is the home of 62,000 Sioux Nation Indian tribes known as Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota. Learn of their cultural heritage and of their ambition to be in balance with nature through their virtuous means of living. Visiting any of their powwows held yearly throughout the state will give you insight into their spiritual dances and singing and give you a taste of some of their native foods as well. Visit Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills and see a work in progress that is to be the world’s largest mountain sculpture honoring the American Indians. And speaking of sculptures, the famous Mount Rushmore stand in the Black Hills at 500 feet high with the faces of four exalted American presidents carved into the mountain side. A walking trail leads you to spectacular views of this sculpture. Travel across South Dakota’s fantastic terrain. “Sue”, the gigantic T-rex at Chicago’s Field Museum, was discovered in South Dakota. Just off I-90 in the southwestern part of the state, be sure to visit Badlands National Park. Its moon-like landscape made of chiseled spires, deep canyons, low-slung buttes, and jagged ridges explain how it got the name “badlands”. Formed from millions of years of wind and water erosion, this 244,000-acre area contains one of the world’s richest deposits of fossils from the Oligocene epoch (33-23 million years ago). You may even take part in your own dig in a real-life excavation. Next are the Black Hills Caves consisting of a network cave display with the largest concentrations of passageways found nowhere else in the world. Eight of the caves are open to the public. Jewel Cave, the 2nd longest cave in the world, consists of more than 135 passages so far and gets its name from the glittering crystals of calcite, dogtooth, and nailhead spar. Then visit Wind Cave, which is the 4th longest in the world and contains the largest display of a rare formation called boxwork. There’s lots of room for you and the kids to play in South Dakota’s 54 state parks and recreation areas. Enjoy the broad expanses of prairies, back-country hiking, biking, and river paddling. The air is clean, and the lakes are crisp and clear to fish, sail, and swim. A wonderful way to explore the state and cover much ground is with an RV Rental. South Dakota’s Scenic Byways will take you through fantastic locations and scenery in the comfort of your own vehicle. The Native American Scenic Byway follows the river’s path and cuts through the heart of South Dakota’s prairies and into the heart of the Great Sioux Nation. The Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway is a 70-mile drive with lots of breathtaking views of the Black Hills. Drive along hairpin curves, tunnels, and slender granite pinnacles and catch the sight of Mount Rushmore along your journey. Spearfish Canyon State and National Forest Service Scenic Byway is a 20-mile route along US 14A that is flanked by towering limestone cliffs and that cuts through Spearfish Canyon. There are many beautiful and hospitality friendly RV Parks and campgrounds available in all the must see areas. See beautiful spruce, pine, aspen, birch, and oak trees that offer brilliant, colorful foliage in the autumn season. And Wildlife Loop State Scenic Byway is an 18-mile route in Custer State Park (SD 87 and 16A) that promises to expose you to buffalo, bighorn sheep, antelope, deer, elk, coyote, prairie dogs, and numerous birds. Drive along this diverse landscape and catch views of the mountain foothills, prairie meadows, and lush streambeds. While considering an RV Rental to explore South Dakota, give GetRV.com an opportunity to meet your RV Rental needs. It is your one stop shop for your RV vacation.
